Hamas Returns Remains of Israeli Hostage
A statement from the army confirmed that the coffin was transferred to the Red Cross and is now en route to Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip.
Earlier, Hamas announced its intention to return the body of another Israeli captive under the terms of the ceasefire agreement.
The body had been recovered from beneath the rubble.
As part of the ongoing agreement, Hamas has already freed 20 living Israeli hostages and delivered the remains of 13 more captives.
In exchange, nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners have been released.
The ceasefire deal, which began on October 10, was based on a phased plan put forward by US President Donald Trump.
Since the start of Israel’s ongoing military actions in October 2023, over 68,000 people have been killed, and more than 170,000 have been wounded, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
