Humanitarian aid gets blocked to enter Gaza by Israeli extremist group
The organization, calling itself Tsav 9, had repeatedly disrupted aid deliveries to Gaza during Israel’s recent offensive, prior to the ceasefire on October 10.
In a post on social media platform X, the group claimed its members were “currently obstructing the passage of aid trucks” at multiple points leading to the crossing, controlled by Israel. They justified the action by asserting, “Hamas violates the agreement and refuses to return hostages, so aid that enables them to rebuild must be halted. No aid truck will pass until the last dead is returned.”
Contradicting these claims, Hamas’ Qassam Brigades said Wednesday that they are actively working to recover the remaining bodies of Israeli captives, noting that specialized equipment and techniques are needed to search rubble and retrieve the deceased.
Tsav 9 posted a video showing members physically blocking an aid truck from passing. Formed during the recent Israeli offensive, the group has previously blocked roads to crossings, staged protests, and, in some cases, looted or damaged aid shipments.
Under the ceasefire agreement brokered by US President Donald Trump last week, Hamas released 20 living Israeli hostages and handed over the remains of 10 more in exchange for nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners. The plan’s first phase also includes the rebuilding of Gaza and the establishment of a new governance mechanism without Hamas.
Since October 2023, Israeli attacks have killed nearly 68,000 Palestinians in Gaza—most of them women and children—and left the territory largely uninhabitable.
