Israel breaks truce, murdering minimum of ninety-seven Palestinians
(MENAFN) The Gaza government reported that at least 97 Palestinians have been killed and 230 injured by Israeli forces since a ceasefire went into effect on October 10, with 21 violations documented on Sunday alone.
In a statement, the Gaza Government Media Office said the “Israeli occupation committed 80 documented violations since the declaration of the ceasefire, in flagrant breach of international humanitarian law.” The violations reportedly involved direct gunfire at civilians, shelling, intentional targeting, the creation of “fire belts,” and the detention of civilians.
The statement detailed that Israeli attacks involved military vehicles, tanks positioned near residential areas, electronic cranes with remote targeting systems, warplanes, and quadcopter drones.
“These violations were recorded in all governorates of the Gaza Strip without exception, confirming that the occupation has not adhered to the ceasefire and continues its policy of killing and terror against our people,” the statement added.
The Gaza government held Israel fully accountable for the breaches and urged the United Nations and other guarantor parties to act urgently to stop the violations.
The ceasefire, agreed between Hamas and Israel under a plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, took effect on October 10. The agreement includes a phased withdrawal of Israeli forces, a mutual prisoner exchange, immediate entry of humanitarian aid, and the disarmament of Hamas.
The truce brought an end to a two-year conflict that left more than 68,000 Palestinians dead, injured around 170,000 others, and destroyed much of Gaza’s infrastructure.
