Israel murders one person in attack on vehicle in southern Lebanon

(MENAFN) One individual lost their life on Saturday after an Israeli drone targeted an excavator in the Tyre district of southern Lebanon, marking the latest incident in violation of the ceasefire between Hezbollah and Tel Aviv, according to reports.

The drone reportedly launched two missiles at the excavator along the Kfardounin-Deir Kifa route, as stated by reports.

The ceasefire, which was established in November 2024, ended a year-long cycle of cross-border hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel that began in October 2023. By September 2024, the conflict had escalated into a major Israeli offensive, causing over 4,000 fatalities and approximately 17,000 injuries.

As part of the truce, Israel was expected to fully withdraw from southern Lebanon by January 2025. However, the withdrawal has been only partial, with Israeli forces continuing to occupy five military outposts along the border, as reported.
