Israeli Raids Intensify in Syria’s Quneitra

(MENAFN) Israeli military units carried out another incursion in Syria’s southern Quneitra region on Sunday, marking the latest breach of the country’s sovereignty, according to local reports.

A news agency reported that a two-vehicle Israeli patrol entered the area from Adnaniyah in northern Quneitra, establishing a military checkpoint between the villages of Rwihinah and Mushayrifah.

Another Israeli detachment advanced into the southern town of al Rafid, firing randomly into the air, though no injuries were reported.

In addition, a convoy of five military vehicles raided the village of Saida al Hanout in southern Quneitra.

Neither the Israeli army nor Syrian authorities immediately commented on the reports.

According to a tally by a news agency, these latest operations bring the total number of Israeli incursions in southern Syria to 42 since the start of December.

Most of the raids have focused on central and northern Quneitra, involving the creation of military checkpoints, construction of earthen barriers, uprooting of thousands of fruit-bearing trees, and destruction of farmland and water wells.

Israeli forces have also targeted the slopes of Jabal al Sheikh (Mount Hermon) and areas around Beit Jinn, attempting to establish technical surveillance posts on elevated terrain overlooking Syrian territory.
