Missile Strikes from Iran Trigger Explosions in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem
The Israel Defense Forces said its air defense systems were activated to intercept the incoming projectiles. Authorities urged residents in the affected areas to move to protected spaces and remain there until further notice.
“In the past few minutes, the Home Front Command has sent a precautionary directive directly to mobile phones in the affected areas. The public is asked to act responsibly and follow the instructions -- they save lives,” the military stated.
Sirens sounded throughout central Israel, including Tel Aviv and occupied East Jerusalem, followed by loud detonations as interceptor missiles were deployed.
Israel’s emergency service reported that no injuries were identified in initial assessments following the retaliatory attacks. Observers also noted that debris from interception attempts fell in several central locations.
The incident comes amid heightened regional tensions following a joint attack on Iran by Israel and the United States on Feb. 28, which Iranian authorities say has killed over 1,200 people, including the country’s then-Supreme Leader, and injured more than 10,000 others.
