Israel Orders USD200M in Aerial Munitions Amid Security Planning
In a statement, the ministry said its Defense Procurement Directorate approved orders worth more than 600 million shekels for weapons systems produced by Elbit Systems, a domestic defense manufacturer.
Officials said the agreement is intended to enhance operational readiness in the near term while also supporting long-term defense planning in light of evolving regional challenges.
The ministry added that production of the munitions will be carried out at Elbit Systems facilities located across Israel.
Defense Minister Israel Katz emphasized the importance of strengthening domestic military capabilities, stating that “we continue to strengthen Israel's armament independence.” He added that “the IDF must have the means at all times to operate with force, speed and without dependence on external parties."
The announcement comes as Israel remains engaged in multiple regional fronts, including conflicts involving Gaza, Lebanon, Iran, and Syria since October 2023.
At the same time, a temporary ceasefire with Lebanon is in effect, while a separate pause in hostilities involving Iran has been extended amid ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions.
