Israeli Airstrikes Hit Southern Lebanon Despite Ceasefire Claims

(MENAFN) Israeli warplanes launched multiple airstrikes across southern Lebanon on Monday evening, hours after US President Donald Trump said Israel and Hezbollah had reached an understanding to halt attacks against one another.

According to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NNA), one of the strikes targeted the town of Bazouriyeh in the Tyre district.

Additional Israeli air raids hit the towns of Siddiqine and Yater, located in the Tyre and Bint Jbeil districts, respectively, the agency reported.

The bombardment also extended to the towns of Mansouri and Bayt al-Sayyad, both situated south of Tyre, according to NNA.

Authorities did not immediately release information regarding casualties or the extent of damage caused by the attacks.

The strikes came after Trump stated earlier in the day that Israel and Hezbollah had agreed to stop launching attacks against each other, raising expectations of a potential de-escalation along the Lebanese-Israeli border.
