Israel Strikes Military Sites Across Iran
The Israeli army announced that its air force had struck military installations belonging to what it described as the "Iranian regime," without immediately disclosing the full scope or precise targets of the offensive operation.
Iranian state television confirmed explosions in the capital Tehran, as well as in the northwestern city of Tabriz and the central city of Isfahan. A news agency separately reported blasts in the vicinity of Karaj, while an Iranian broadcaster confirmed that at least three distinct explosions had been heard in Isfahan alone — pointing to a coordinated, multi-target strike campaign.
The Israeli offensive came in direct response to a large-scale Iranian missile assault earlier in the night, in which Tehran launched several successive barrages of missiles toward northern Israel. That attack was itself triggered by an Israeli airstrike on Beirut's southern suburbs — a strike that Tel Aviv asserted had targeted a Hezbollah command and planning center in the Lebanese capital.
The rapid tit-for-tat escalation between Israel and Iran marks one of the most dangerous and direct military exchanges between the two adversaries in recent memory, raising acute fears of a broader regional conflagration with potentially far-reaching consequences.
