Israel Says It Carried Out ‘Large-Scale Strike’ on Iranian Defense Systems
In a statement, the army said the operation was directed by its Intelligence Directorate and focused on defense systems deployed across multiple locations in Iran. It added that the strike had dismantled the targeted systems.
Iranian authorities had not issued an immediate response to the Israeli claims at the time of reporting.
The escalation followed Iranian missile launches toward northern Israel late Sunday, marking the first such attack since a fragile ceasefire established in early April, which came after Israeli strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs.
Tensions in the region have remained high since joint US and Israeli airstrikes on Iran in late February triggered Iranian retaliation against Israel and other regional countries hosting US military assets.
Although a temporary ceasefire was reached on April 8, negotiations later stalled amid disagreements over implementation and evolving regional developments.
