Trump Calls for Immediate End to Israel-Iran Hostilities
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, “Israel and Iran must immediately stop shooting.”
Later, he indicated that both sides appear willing to pursue a ceasefire, writing that Tehran and Tel Aviv are “looking to do an immediate ceasefire.”
He added that “Final negotiations on peace are proceeding, subject to ignorance or stupidity getting in its way,” while emphasizing that the blockade remains active.
According to Trump, the blockade is “in full force and effect, until a final deal is reached."
He also expressed optimism about the diplomatic process, stating: “Things should move quickly.”
Earlier Monday, Iranian officials reported that an Israeli airstrike struck a petrochemical facility in southwestern Iran, causing partial damage to the site.
The strike coincided with missile launches from Tehran that triggered air raid sirens in several Israeli cities.
Regional tensions have remained high since late February, when US and Israeli strikes on Iran sparked retaliatory attacks by Tehran against Israel and other countries in the region hosting US military assets.
