Israeli Officials Intensify Threats Against Lebanon After Hezbollah Attacks

(MENAFN) Israeli government officials have heightened their rhetoric toward Lebanon, with some ministers advocating harsher military measures, including strikes on Beirut and territorial occupation, following recent Hezbollah drone attacks.

During a meeting of Israel’s Security Cabinet on Monday, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir urged a more aggressive approach toward Hezbollah, according to reports.

“We must think outside the box regarding Hezbollah, and we should also consider occupying territory and killing many terrorists,” National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said during a meeting of Israel’s Security Cabinet on Monday evening.

Ben-Gvir also called for “arresting their women and children,” saying, “This is what hurts them most.”

Meanwhile, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar accused Hezbollah of attempting to draw Israel into what he described as “a war of attrition.”

According to reports, Israeli military operations in Lebanon have intensified since a cross-border attack by Hezbollah on March 2. The strikes have reportedly resulted in more than 3,600 deaths, over 11,100 injuries and the displacement of more than one million people.

Reports indicated that the continuing hostilities in Lebanon contributed to a broader escalation in regional tensions, culminating in a day of reciprocal military exchanges between Iran and Israel on Monday.
