Massive Israeli Strikes Shake Southern Lebanon
Lebanon's state news agency NNA reported that Israeli forces unleashed "a massive bombing operation that lasted approximately 42 seconds, one of the most intense bombing operations the region has witnessed in some time."
"According to initial reports, the explosions likely targeted sites in the vicinity of Ali Taher Hill in Nabatieh," NNA added.
"The ground shook, and the explosions were heard across wide areas, causing widespread panic among residents," the agency reported.
Friday's strikes represent a continued Israeli violation of the ceasefire agreement announced April 17 and subsequently extended through early July.
Since launching its current offensive on March 2, the Israeli army has killed more than 3,700 people, wounded over 11,400 others, and displaced upward of 1 million Lebanese civilians, according to Lebanese officials.
Israel maintains a territorial foothold across swaths of southern Lebanon — some areas held for decades, others seized during the 2023–2024 war. During the present offensive, Israeli ground forces have pushed more than 10 kilometers (6 miles) into Lebanese territory, marking their deepest incursion since Israel withdrew from southern Lebanon in 2000.
