Israeli Opposition Accuses Netanyahu of Creating Panic Among Voters
Earlier that day, Netanyahu shared an AI-generated image showing a nuclear blast over Tel Aviv. The post warned of the dangers posed by Iran obtaining nuclear weapons and called for continued pressure on Tehran throughout the remainder of US President Donald Trump’s term.
Gadi Eisenkot, a former Israeli military chief who leads the Yashar party, accused Netanyahu of provoking public anxiety and repeating campaign tactics he had used in previous elections, which Eisenkot described as based on “lies and spreading fear.”
“This time, you are threatening Israeli citizens with total destruction, after failing to achieve the goals of the war in Iran,” Eisenkot wrote on the US social media platform X.
Eisenkot also argued that Netanyahu had abandoned his earlier promise of “absolute victory” in favor of the slogan “We will not surrender.”
“That is the whole story,” he said.
Yair Golan, head of the Democrats party, separately criticized the prime minister in a post on X.
“The prime minister of Israel posted a picture of an atomic bomb over Tel Aviv,” Golan wrote.
